Self (and other) Help options
The Lodge, Cancer Support and Information Centre is available for anyone affected by cancer, whether a patient,a carer or a friend.

Access to information and general support services are readily available, with no charge.
Information about cancer?

There is a wide range of information freely available, in a variety of formats, such as books, videos and audio-cassettes,
Difficulty in coping with cancer diagnosis?

Speak with the Centre Manager who will discuss with you if referral on to the counselling support services would be appropriate.
Expert advice on available benefits?

This service is available every Wednesday morning and the last Friday of every month and is by appointment only. Call the Manager for an appointment.
Loss of hair?

There is a weekly, appointment only, wig-fitting service. Wig request forms should be obtained from Consultant (radiotherapy patients) or at ‘new patient talk’ (chemotherapy). Appointments through Centre Manager.
Who needs pampering?

There is an offer of a ‘one-off’ beauty pampering session for patients and their carers. It takes place once a month, are a great way to have a couple of hours of fun, and a place needs to be booked.
Complementary medicine?

Four free sessions of aromatheray, massage, or reflexology are available to patients OR two for themselves and two for a carer. Booking the Centre manager is required.
Healthy eating?

The Centre has food and nutrition workshops,held every other month. Ring for an appointment, and there are some recipes available by clicking here.
Relax - how?

Relaxation classes are held on the last Wednesday of each month, by appointment only. Some suggestions - click here.
Private consultations are conducted in in small but comfortable rooms
Larger rooms for more people
Sometimes we even use our garden!
